Jim Bilsborrow began his coaching career in the Fall of 1973 at Coldwater High School. As the head coach, Jim coached Cross Country and Track and Field. He has had much success with his athletes as a team and individually. Jim retired from coaching in 2007 but has since come out of retirement to join the coaching ranks once again.
Besides the sport of running, another passion of Jim’s has been to be a writer. Over the years, Jim wrote the newspaper articles that he submitted to the paper after each meet. Once he retired from coaching in 2006, he wanted to take on something more difficult. So, he began writing his first book based on the hometown of his mother. He spent about 2 years doing research and finally published his first book “A Flag Stop called Devereaux.” Devereaux, Michigan is the small town where Jim’s mother was born and raised. Jim knew that much of the history of the town was being lost with the residents as they passed on. His book ended up being a big hit with the locals as well as with others who had moved away.
